New Arrivals Now in Stock!
organized by Beth Caspar

A pop-up show at 53530 State Hwy 30, Roxbury, NY
Saturday July 6, 10-4, 2019

The concept for the show came from ad hoc member Wanda Siedlecka, who grew up in Communist Poland and remembers when there were shortages of everything. “The stores were practically empty but the ‘art’ of shop window display was flourishing. The effect was surreal and the feeling it evoked was—liberating. Merchandise was turned into abstraction. So the idea for the ‘store show’ is to create that kind of tension: real and abstract, real and absurd.”

Participating artists Beth Caspar, Laura Sue King, Roman Kossak, Hedi Kyle, Patrice Lorenz, Miguel Martinez-Riddle, Amy Masters, Elaine Mayes, Alan Powell, Wanda Siedlecka, Ted Sheridan, and Tona Wilson used a variety of mediums and disciplines to create “merchandise” that at first glance may seem utilitarian but upon closer inspection is really something quite different.
